When I was a toddler, my mom tried to cure me of begging for books by reading to me until I got sick of it. Two hours later, she gave up. I was never going to be satisfied.
That story became the spine of this feature on how parents can give their kids a lifelong love of reading. I did the research, wrote the piece, and designed the layout, from the pull quotes to the reader resources sidebar. The assignment was to write and design a feature in the style of a real magazine, so I modeled it on Reader's Digest. That's why their name is in the footer. It never actually ran there, but it's where my writing and graphic design training met on the same page. Literally.
